LESSONS FOR LEADERS

PRINCIPLES OF ASSEMBLY RULE AS ILLUSTRATED IN FIRST AND SECOND SAMUEL

First and Second Samuel present us with a fascinating part of the rich tapestry of the history of Israel. They tell us the stories of three leaders – Samuel, Saul, and David – recording their triumphs and tragedies, their victories and defeats, their joys and their sorrows. But they also tell us the story of the nation, and reveal, with a sometimes chilling clarity, the impact – both for good and for evil – that the leadership of these men had upon the nation. Albert McShane reminds us that First and Second Samuel are more than just historical accounts. As he takes us through the chapters of these books he highlights their continuing relevance for all who seek to lead God's people in this dispensation. In a day when the need for godly elders and wise leadership grows ever more acute, this book is recommended reading.
