ZECHARIAH
PROPHET OF THE MYRTLE GROVE
The prophecy of Zechariah came to a people who were discouraged in the work of God. Although a good start had been made in the rebuilding of the Temple, opposition from surrounding peoples and the fear of imperial displeasure had caused the Israelites who had returned from exile to grow discouraged, and the work to cease. To those people, Zechariah brings a series of revitalising revelations. In visions (chapters 1-6), in responses to the questions of the people (chapters 7 and 8), and in two prophetic burdens dealing with the first and second advent of the coming Messiah (chapters 9-14). Zechariah reminds the people of his day of the reality of God's presence, God's protection, and the unalterable certainty of God's purpose. That message has not ceased to be relevant today.
In this classic study, F.A. Tatford, with his characteristic clarity, expounds the meaning of Zechariah's message. The reader will find this a reliable and readable guide to this important prophetic book.
